LED soffit lights are a great innovation, because they are lightweight and low energy consumption. When we come across them we reinstall them, if we are replacing the soffits. Always hire an experienced contractor who knows how to do so. Only a qualified electrician knows how to safely wire new lights back to the distribution board.
Replacing LED Soffit Lights Needs an Experienced Eye
- Note the positions of the soffit lights on the old soffit panels being replaced.
- Cut the new soffit boards to the right size and shape using old ones as templates.
- Cut out the holes for the LED soffit lights in the replacement soffit panels.
- Test the connecting wires from the old installation for electrical safety.
- Make sure these connecting wires will be easily accessible through the holes.
- Install the new soffit panels pulling the wires through the holes as you go.
- Retest the electrical installation, visually inspect the soffit light fittings.
- Connect the LED soffit lights to the wires. Push them into the holes.
Creative Ways to Use LED Lights in Soffit Panels
Soffit lights are a great way to illuminate pathways under the eaves, but there is a great deal more to them than that. For example, you could use adjustable ones to light up your garden.
However, you could also opt for more subtle lighting instead, and ‘wash your walls’ in subtle soft lighting in a variety of tints. These effects may add a new dimension to living, when you return home after sunset and don’t find your house plunged into darkness.
The Lights Can Shine All Night with LED
LED soffit lights are far more energy-efficient, and last much longer. This means you can leave soft lights on all night throughout the house filtering gently through curtains. Night owls will appreciate this if they have to leave their beds for any reason.
