In our world at Valiant Exteriors, seamless means consistently high standards throughout a job. It’s a goal we constantly strive to maintain, and we know having the right materials for seamless gutters is part of the solution. Other contractors may try to cut corners but we do not.
Seamless Gutter Material Is a Formable Metal
The aluminum sheeting in seamless gutters forms readily into a variety of shapes. However, it is more than strong enough for eavestroughs in the familiar ‘K-Style’ format. Our proprietary gutter hangers add an extra bonus of rigidity. So what’s all the fuss about you ask?
The fuss is that the material is vulnerable to twisting and denting when lying on the ground, or in the back of a delivery vehicle for that matter. That’s why we invested in gutter-forming equipment, that extrudes K-Style out of flat sheet-roll at client sites:
- There’s no chance of damaging the material on the way to the client site.
- The gutters are perfectly seamless. We make them to the exact length we need.
- This means no unsightly joints, imperfections, and places where they can leak.
But there is a catch that prevents some of our competition doing this. This snag is the extruding machine is expensive, and payback takes a long time.
How Some of Our Competitors Make ‘Seamless Gutters’
A surprising number of ‘seamless gutter’ installers assemble theirs from standard lengths that they purchase locally. These are short enough to transport to site, but not nearly long enough for the average run of roof. And so they join these together with beads of silicon, and one, maybe two pop rivets.
However, unfortunately they have to do this work on the ground. The net result is they strain those assemblies while lifting them up, and hanging them in position. From what we’ve seen, they know they will leak, and plaster sealant inside, in an attempt to prevent this happening.
When These So-Called Seamless Gutters Fail
Aluminum lengths – whether shaped or flat – expand and contact in response to temperature. A few seasons later the silicon in the joined sections eventually gives way to pressure, and separates. Unfortunately much the same can happen to any sealant you plaster over. They make look seamless, but leak-proof is another matter.
Consider the Better, Valiant Exteriors Way
Our seamless gutters are in single lengths, and they can’t leak unless you drill a hole through them. While our prices may be slightly higher – but often are not – the difference is far less than the cost of fixing a botched job. Give us a call at Calgary (403)829-1661 if you would like to know more.
