Quality Takes Time, And Therefore So Do Our Jobs

Quality takes time, and so do our jobs because both are close to our hearts. Our work is meticulous and we want to be proud of everything we do. Even the groundwork we cover over as the work proceeds matters. Sometimes a customer asks how could this possibly take so long from order to delivery. The answer is there are many variables, and these are not always under our control.

The Many Factors that Affect Project Time

PLANNING

We enter the planning phase immediately we receive an order. Out first task is to order the materials. That’s because we work with such a variety and range of colours, it is impossible to hold stocks of all the different types of sidings, soffits and eavestroughs.

We have good relationships with all our suppliers. However, they too face factors beyond their control. Everything slows down during high summer and seasonal holidays. Getting the material to site is on the critical path until everything has arrived and is checked.

WEATHER

Then there’s the unpredictable Calgary weather. If we know there is rain coming, we have to stop and button down everything a day in advance, to be doubly sure. The job often grinds to a halt during inclement weather, because we work on roofs and the exterior of buildings. We cannot afford to take chances with safety.

DISTANCE FROM SUPPLIERS

If we are working in Calgary and a tool breaks or material is defective, we can generally have a replacement on site within a few hours. However, if we are out in the countryside at the end of a long, unpaved road we may need more than a day. In town, our problem may be finding parking for our vehicles each morning

OTHER STRUCTURES

We do our best to liaise with service providers during the planning phase. A telecom wire or internet cable may be in the way. We may find pipes and electric cables underground someone must isolate or remove. The contracting business is full of surprises, and neighbours are not always as helpful as we wish.

Our Job Is to Sort Things Out As We Go Along

We will always do our best to finish a job on time, for the sake of our customers and to be honest our cash flow. Rest assured however that nothing will ever stand ahead of quality where we work. Speak to us soon, but only if you need a decent job done on your home.
